The typical Latvian menu contains
things like rye bread, porridge, vegetables (particularly root
vegetables), pork, chicken, fish, wild game and dairy products. Beer
has always been the most popular drink in Latvia.
Each Lithuanian region has its own
culinary specialties, which is why it is sometimes said that
Lithuania has several national cuisines:
Aukštaitija - pancakes and dumplings, Dzūkija - mushrooms,
Suvalkija - meat, Žemaitija - potato
dishes.
Traditional Estonian cuisine relies
heavily on pork, potatoes and a variety of garden vegetables. Something
to look for is a popular
drink Kali. It is a cross between beer and cola in taste, but alcohol
free.
