Medieval programm at Cesis Castle

Cesis is an ancient, little town placed 90 km from Riga. And it's really ancient! In 2006 Cesis had 800th anniversary celebration.
Cesis has unique medieval atmosphere, wonderful nature to be found around the town, interesting festivals and different recreation opportunities.
We invite you to take a trip back in time in 1526 year - the golden age of the Livonian Order's Castle at Cesis and take part in a reception hosted by the most famous Master of the Livonian Order, Volter fon Pletenberg.
You will be welcomed at the Castle gates by the Secretary of the Master of the Order. He will tell you about the Livonian Order and the history of Cesis Castle, as well as prepare you for the forthcoming visit to the Master. And here another surprise awaits one of the guests! Than the Secretary will invite you to the Castle courtyard to meet the Order's Brother – the monk Vilhelm who present each one of you with a lantern, light the candles in the lanterns and guide you to the Castle. Having climbed up the winding stairs of the Castle tower, you will arrive at one of the Castle's most beautiful rooms - the Master's residential and working abode. Here you will be greeted by the Master and with the assistance of the Secretary invited to ask him the questions that are of interest to you.
After this adventures, visitors are invited to a medieval feast prepared by the Castle's servants, which will be hosted to the accompaniment of music in the Castle's lancet hall.
