The pride of Lithuania, Trakai is the only castle in all Eastern Europe, situated in the island. At the end of the 14th-15th century Trakai Castle was a summer residence of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania.
Sometimes called “Little Marienburg” due to its resemblance to Malbork Castle, this little gem dates back to the 14th century and was completed in 1409 by Vytautus the Great, who died inside. In 1962 a historical museum, exhibiting many treasures found in the site, was opened in the Castle and the halls of the Castle from those times are being used for cultural events. Nowadays, Trakai Island Castle is one of the major tourist attractions in Lithuania. It is a popular place for weddings, picnics and picturetaking, the chamber and old music concerts as well as conferences, receptions and incentives. Trakai Island Castle offers 2 halls that are extremely popular among gala dinners. The throne of the Ruler used to stand in the Representative hall, envoys used to be sent and feasts used to be held here. Trakai Island Castle offers a magnificent atmosphere that can be used as a unique detail arranging any kind of events.
