EU Citizens only require identity cards to enter Latvia. European Economic Zone (EEZ) citizens require passports. Such citizens may stay in Latvia for up to 90 days during a six-month period without a visa.

*Persons who posses a residence permit for one of these countries, but who are not citizens, need a visa.
Persons, with a travel document such as a United Nations passport, European Commission passport, Vatican passport or an Armenian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian, Peruvian or Macedonian diplomatic or service passport may enter Latvia without a visa.
Visa process
The Latvian Embassy or a Consulate of the Republic of Latvia issues visas within 7 days of the receipt of necessary documents (as specified by the Cabinet of Ministers.) If additional information is required, the process may take 30 days.
The following documents are required for a Latvian visa:
A valid Passport (containing at least two blank pages and with a termof validity that exceeds the expiry date of the visa requested by a minimum of three months);
A completed visa application form;
2 photos (35mm x 45mm)
Official documentation justifying the reason for entry, or documents confirming that the visa applicant has an invintation to visit Latvia which has been approved by the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs at the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Latvia. Invintations may be not older than three months prior to the application date;
A valid health and life insurance policy guaranteeing the coverage of costs associated with health care in Latvia, as well as those associated with repatriation to the visitor's country of permanent residence in cases of serious illness or death;
Fee for processing of documents required for issuing a visa.
