Swimming with Dolphins
The Lithuania invites for swimming with dolphins. Present your dearest people and yourself with a great chance to learn more about dolphins and the mysterious water world.
The Dolphinarium together with the Lithuanian Sea Museum and the
Aquarium form a unique complex that introduces the water world to the
visitors. The opening ceremony of the Dolphinarium, which is the only
one on the eastern Baltic Sea coast, was held on April 30th, 1994. The
Dolphinarium could not function without its sophisticated technical
installations. The modern technologies of water preparation, filtration
and regeneration help it maintain conditions suitable for the animals in
the three pools of the Dolphinarium. The water pumped into the
Dolphinarium is salt water (6–7 pro mille) from the Baltic Sea. Before
entering the pools, the water is treated in mechanical filters, then it
is sterilized by saturation with chlorine compounds and exposured to UV
radiation, and finally the required quantity of white salt is added to
the water for proper salinity, i.e. 18 pro mille. In winter the water is
heated to maintain a temperature of 18–20°C. The cycle of the total pool
water volume circulation and re-filtration (re-circulation) takes place
every five hours. Considerable attention is paid to the air conditioning
of the premises.
